WHO WE ARE
OUR MISSION
We champion California communities by untangling the state’s complex housing mandates and promoting fair, locally driven solutions. Through rigorous research, strategic advocacy, and legal empowerment, our mission is to protect local autonomy, ensure sustainable growth, and create real opportunities for every region—proving that responsible development and community self-determination can coexist
The 15-Minute City: A Bold Experiment That Ignores California’s Reality
Born from a 2016 urban planning theory, the 15-Minute City envisions a future where work, shopping, and daily life exist within a short walk or bike ride of every home. While ideal in theory, California’s policymakers have taken this bold experiment and attempted to impose it statewide through one-size-fits-all mandates that ignore the state’s diverse geography, infrastructure, and economic realities.
In rural and suburban areas, forcing dense, walkable development clashes with existing infrastructure, ingrained traffic patterns, and the fundamental freedom to travel as one sees fit. These policies demand costly retrofits that defy fiscal sense while imposing restrictions that fail to recognize how Californians actually live, work, and move. By prioritizing an urban-first vision, state leaders risk undermining local economies, restricting housing choices, and erasing the organic, community-driven growth that has defined California for generations.
Instead of shoehorning every city and town into a rigid framework, we must embrace a future shaped by local needs, not central planning experiments.
Common Sense Permitting
California needs permitting processes that work for everyone. We support streamlined, predictable approval systems that ensure buildings are safe and environmentally sound without creating endless delays and excessive costs.
A common sense approach means maintaining strong standards for safety, accessibility, and environmental protection while eliminating redundant reviews, contradictory requirements, and unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. It means reasonable timelines that developers can count on and transparent processes that communities can trust.
By modernizing our permitting systems, we can protect what matters while enabling the housing and development our communities desperately need. We can build more affordably, respond to market demands more quickly, and create the homes that California families deserve—all while preserving our commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
It's not about lowering standards. It's about smarter regulation that delivers better outcomes for everyone.
Sensible Environmental Laws: Balance, Not Bureaucracy
California’s environmental protections should foster both conservation and responsible growth, yet the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) has become so burdensome that the state itself routinely bypasses its own laws to meet housing targets. Instead of applying one clear, fair standard, the legislature grants special exemptions for politically favored projects while forcing everyone else to navigate an expensive, years-long approval process that stalls housing, infrastructure, and economic development.
The solution isn’t to circumvent the law when convenient—it’s to fix the law itself. We need sensible environmental policies that balance conservation with the reality of human needs, ensuring growth occurs responsibly and efficiently. By streamlining CEQA to protect the environment without blocking necessary housing and infrastructure, we can create a sustainable future where people and nature thrive together—not one where red tape determines who gets to build and who doesn’t.
